Animations For Ubuntu

• Install CompizConfig Settings Manager, and Compiz-Plugins-Extra.
  sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
  
  • Warning: What are some of the issues with ccsm and why should I not use it?
  sudo apt-get install compiz-plugins-extra
• Launch CompizConfig Settings Manager by searching from the dash in Unity, or Preferences > CompizConfig Settings Manager in Ubuntu Classic.
• Enable Animations, and Animations Add-On.

• Open Animations, and switch to the Close Animation tab.

• Double-click the first item in the list.

• A new window will appear, change the Close Effect to Burn.

Please make sure you have the cellphone number of the nearest Fire Brigade available, because your system is about to catch fire... literally.

මම අද කියන්න යන්නෙ කොහොමද උබුන්ටු වලට සිංහල-English Dictionary   එකක් ඉන්ස්ටෝල් කරන්නෙ කොහෙමද කියල.මේකෙ Dictionary එකේ තියන පහසුම දේ තමයි අපි කොහේ ඉදන් මොන Text එකක් select කරත් එකේ සිංහල  තේරුම පෙන්වල දෙන එක ඒ වගේම තමයි සිංහල වචනයක් select කරත් ඒකෙ English තේරුම පෙන්වල දෙනව.

මුලින්ම ඔයගෙ Computer ඒක terminal එක open කරගන්න දැන් StarDict කියන Dictionary  එක install කරගන්න ඔන. මුලින්ම බලන්න ඔයාගෙ Computer එකේ ඒක කලින්ම install එක කරලද තියෙන්නෙ කියල. Start-Accessories වල තමයි තිබුනොත් තියෙන්නෙ නැත්තම් install කරගන්න terminal එකේ මේ Command එක type කරන්න.
sudo apt-get install stardict
 
මතක ඇතුව ඇඩ්මින් එකෙන් ලොග් වෙන්න.(අඩ්මින් ලොග් වෙන කමාන්ඩ් එක තමයි  su)

Dictionary  එක install  උනහම මෙන්න මේ ගොනුව Download කර ගන්න.

දැන් ඔයා Download කරගත්තු file එක තියන තැනට Terminal එකෙන් යන්න.උදාහරණයක් විදියට අපි හිතමු එක තියෙන්නෙ Download කියන folder  එකේ කියල එතකොට මුලින්ම terninal එකේ මෙහෙම type කරන්න.

su      - Administrator  privileges ලබා ගන්න. දැන් password එක ඉල්ලනව ඒක දෙන්න.
cd /    -root folder එකට යන්න.
cd home/*------මෙතනත දෙන්න ඔයගෙ download කියන folder එක තියන home foldereka nama (user name)එකේ නම------*/

cd Downloads -Downloads folder එක ඇතුලට යෑමට.

දැන් මේ command එක Run කරවන්න.
tar -xzvf sinhala-stardict-Dic .tar.gz -C /usr/share/stardict/dic

පොඩ්ඩක් වෙලා ගියහම ඉන්ස්ටෝල් වෙලා ඉවර වෙනව.
දැන් වැඩේ හරි. Start-Accessories වලට ගිහින් StarDict කියන එක open කරල බලන්න.
Dictionary එක ඔපන් කරල කොහේ මොන වචනෙ Select  කරත් තේරුම පෙන්නනව.

Install Plymouth Manager and Change Boot Screen in Ubuntu/Linux Mint and Fix Plymouth for Proprietary Graphics Drivers (Nvidia/ATI)

Plymouth Manager is a GUI tool to manage the plymouth splash screen at Ubuntu start-up and shutdown. Ubuntu has few plymouth themes in its official repository, and by default doesn’t have a plymouth manger installation. Here is how to install latest plymouth manager and plenty of plymouth themes from an untrusted PPA.

Mario Guerriero’s ppa provides lastest stable plymouth-manager packages and also a mass of plymouth themes for Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric/11.04 Natty/10.10 Maverick/10.04 LTS/Linux Mint.

To install Plymouth Manager open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the following commands in the Terminal:

Terminal Commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mefrio-g/plymouthmanager
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install plymouth-manager

Now Install all the Themes for Plymouth with this command:

Terminal Command:
sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme*

If you want separate theme or specific themes just visit on Launchpad.
To change theme open Terminal and enter following command:

Terminal Command:
sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth

Now enter theme number which you want to apply and press enter.
Than Enter the following command in the Terminal. (If this command shows error, Enter once again).

Terminal Command:
sudo update-initramfs -u

Note: Plymouth is not reliable with nVidia drivers and during bootup a blank screen may result for several seconds.

We try to fix it now for Nvidia/ATI Cards:

Open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T)and enter the following commands:

Terminal Commands:
wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/57638460/fixplymouth
chmod +x fixplymouth
./fixplymouth

For example, In picture screen size is 1440×900 so here entered:

1440×900-24
